Home Applications Light-Absorbing Coating on Spectrometer…
Spectrometers are precision optical testing instruments. Their core performance indicators—spectral resolution, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and measurement accuracy—are directly affected by internal stray light. In some spectrometer designs, traditional treatments such as black anodizing or conventional black paints may present challenges including higher reflectivity (>2%), limited broadband absorption, or adhesion issues, which can contribute to internal light reflection and scattering, creating optical noise that limits performance in trace-level detection and weak signal analysis.
Leveraging its core nanoporous carbon technology, Suzhou Tsingcarbo Nano offers customized ultra-black light-absorbing coating solutions for the 200–2500 nm broadband range. When applied to aluminum alloy chambers, special-shaped mounts, and light-shielding parts inside spectrometers, the solution offers the following features:
Full-band high-efficiency extinction (200–2500 nm)
The coating achieves absorptance ≥98.5% across UV–VIS–NIR to mid- to far-infrared bands. It suppresses high-energy stray light in the UV, background reflection in the visible, and thermal interference in the NIR/mid- to far-infrared, providing full-spectrum extinction protection.
Perfect adaptation to complex structures
With a specialized spraying process, the coating uniformly covers grooves, through-holes, and special-shaped support structures without dead ends, ensuring consistent extinction inside the optical chamber.
High stability and cleanliness
The coating offers excellent adhesion and environmental resistance, withstands long-term temperature fluctuations without peeling or chalking, and is VOC‑free. It does not contaminate optical components and meets the cleanliness requirements of precision optical devices.
Performance improvements after coating
1. Significant full-band stray light reduction
System stray light is reduced to below 0.015%. Residual stray light in the 1200–2500 nm range decreases by more than one order of magnitude, delivering significantly reduced stray light across this band.
2. Significantly improved signal-to-noise ratio
Background noise is greatly reduced across the full spectrum. Weak signals become clearly identifiable; SNR improves by over an order of magnitude, and detection sensitivity and dynamic range are greatly enhanced.
3. Optimized spectral purity
Ghost peaks and false peaks caused by internal reflections are eliminated. Linearity and accuracy are reliably guaranteed, especially in the infrared fingerprint region.
4. Simplified optomechanical structure
The ultra-wide absorption bandwidth simplifies multi-stage light shields and complex baffles, reducing system weight and assembly costs.
Tsingcarbo's carbon-based broadband light-absorbing coating provides a high-performance, high-reliability full-spectrum stray light suppression solution for precision optical instruments, supporting improved optical performance in spectrometer applications.
